Joe Deighton – BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy MCSP

Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist

Hi, I’m Joe and I have been practising Physiotherapy for 13 years. My passion for neurological rehab started at university during clinical placement training. I worked with some brilliant therapists and really enjoyed working closely with patients and their families who have found themselves with significant disabilities. It was great to witness a person’s journey from when they arrived through to leaving the hospital. Since then, along with various NHS roles, I have worked at a large private neuro rehab hospital in London, run a small community department in New Zealand and worked on a voluntary basis in Tanzania. Most recently, I assisted a hospital in Abu Dhabi open the city’s first neuro rehab outpatient facility.

Having grown up in South Manchester I always wanted to return home after seeing and working in different parts of the world. In 2016, I did just that and now I am looking to help develop the standard of rehabilitation for neurological injuries in the area. Put simply, I am in a position to provide expert guidance, advice and hands on therapy at the required intensity to make lasting change.

Whether it be, learning to walk again, use your arms more to dress or cook a meal, use your wheelchair more effectively or have the energy to walk in a local park or climb a favourite mountain again, physiotherapy and rehabilitation generally can help with this in so many ways.
